Music Video Analysis - Imagine Dragons

This music video is about the simple fact that no matter who you are or where you come from everyone one has 'demons' inside them. This song/video highlights that everyone has problems and a lot of the time they do end badly. The rang od different people and their story's we find out about not only shows the diversity of the bands audience/fans but it shows that anyone and everyone has 'demons' inside of them due to upsetting and tragic events.

The music video shows the story of 4 people in the crowd of an Imagine Dragons concert: a woman who has just lost a loved one, a victim of parental abuse, a military veteran, and an anorexic man who stares at himself in a mirror. When they begin to perform 'Demons'  it flicks to the four characters individually and shows each of their 'demons'. The first person we see is the woman who has lost a loved one, she is obviously devastated and is sat down crying looking on. This could represent that she is looking back at the memories that she once had with this loved one and now they can't have memories like that anymore. The second person who we see is an anorexic man and it zooms into his life and shows him standing in front of his mirror looking at his body in an upsetting way, this clearly shows that the man is unhappy with his body and his anorexia is his 'demon'. The third person we see is a young male that is a victim of child abuse who gets hit of what presumably is his drunk father and then as it goes on for longer a bottle is thrown at the young male, this shows the abuse that is happening to him and this then is his 'demon'. The final person we see is a military veteran who is carrying an injured or dead soldier, the man has tear marks down his face which shows his love for the man he is carrying and the fact that he has to carry him in this state is his 'demon' from being in the military.

All the character's story's shows us that every one is different and we all have to deal with pain 'demons' but the fact that we al have this pain makes us the same in a sense that it is only natural that we feel this pain no matter what it is. All of the story's are things that aren't made up and these things really do happen, it makes us realise as a viewer we should never judge a book by its cover because we will never truly understand how a person is feeling and we will not know that these people struggle with these heart braking issues day in day out and everyone has 'demons' to fight no matter what they are. At the end of the video it shows a clip of real footage between an almost 'real life' version of this song and shows the struggles of real life people, this encourages people to donate to the Tyler Robinson Foundation, which provides financial assistance to families with children fighting cancer.
