Music Video Analysis - The Kooks

The music video Naive by The Kooks is one long story about the main male character presumably breaking up with his girlfriend and basically missing her. He sings about her saying 'it's not your fault, although you could have done more' he's basically not blaming her for the breakup but she could have done more to stop it from happening. I think he's talking about his girlfriend having a good male friend who obviously likes her and she is acting 'naive (hence the song name) and oblivious to it. Which i'm guessing is the reason why they broke up. throughout the video there are scenes of the couple when they were together which is the male character reminiscing about all the good times he shared with the girl messing around and being happy together. The girl is seen being unhappy due to the breakup. at one point in the video the girl is presumably drunk in a night club where she goes to kiss him but he pushes her away this is suggesting that he broke up with her because of her close relationship with another man. Another thing that supports this theory is a lyric in the song which says 'and every time you're on his side' suggesting that she always chose her friend over her boyfriend consequently they broke up because of the other man.

Shot Count - The Wombats

There are approximately 120 shots in the music video. The type and frequency matches the overall style of the video and the style of music that the wombats produce. The music video mainly consists of the camera zooming into the band members whilst they are what seems to be rehearsing so there are lots of close ups of the band members faces to show how much they are getting into the song. However, as the song continues to go on the shots become increasingly more frequent and there is a constant flick from close ups, extreme close ups and wide shots to show the band members. As the song approaches the chorus the shots become a constant cycle of swapping shots, this is too show the overall tempo and volume of the song.

Music Video Analysis - Imagine Dragons

This music video is about the simple fact that no matter who you are or where you come from everyone one has 'demons' inside them. This song/video highlights that everyone has problems and a lot of the time they do end badly. The rang od different people and their story's we find out about not only shows the diversity of the bands audience/fans but it shows that anyone and everyone has 'demons' inside of them due to upsetting and tragic events.

The music video shows the story of 4 people in the crowd of an Imagine Dragons concert: a woman who has just lost a loved one, a victim of parental abuse, a military veteran, and an anorexic man who stares at himself in a mirror. When they begin to perform 'Demons'  it flicks to the four characters individually and shows each of their 'demons'. The first person we see is the woman who has lost a loved one, she is obviously devastated and is sat down crying looking on. This could represent that she is looking back at the memories that she once had with this loved one and now they can't have memories like that anymore. The second person who we see is an anorexic man and it zooms into his life and shows him standing in front of his mirror looking at his body in an upsetting way, this clearly shows that the man is unhappy with his body and his anorexia is his 'demon'. The third person we see is a young male that is a victim of child abuse who gets hit of what presumably is his drunk father and then as it goes on for longer a bottle is thrown at the young male, this shows the abuse that is happening to him and this then is his 'demon'. The final person we see is a military veteran who is carrying an injured or dead soldier, the man has tear marks down his face which shows his love for the man he is carrying and the fact that he has to carry him in this state is his 'demon' from being in the military.

All the character's story's shows us that every one is different and we all have to deal with pain 'demons' but the fact that we al have this pain makes us the same in a sense that it is only natural that we feel this pain no matter what it is. All of the story's are things that aren't made up and these things really do happen, it makes us realise as a viewer we should never judge a book by its cover because we will never truly understand how a person is feeling and we will not know that these people struggle with these heart braking issues day in day out and everyone has 'demons' to fight no matter what they are. At the end of the video it shows a clip of real footage between an almost 'real life' version of this song and shows the struggles of real life people, this encourages people to donate to the Tyler Robinson Foundation, which provides financial assistance to families with children fighting cancer.

Music Video Analysis - The Killers

This is the music video for one of The Killers best hits called 'bones'. The whole video has a reoccurring theme and meaning which is that we are all human and we all need someone to have affection from, however In my opinion I think that the singer is just singing about his desire to have sex with the girl in the video. I get this impression from the way the singer mentions words such as "bones" and "skin' and these both have connotations of having sex. The singer also sings about romantic and poetic things such as "water and sand" and "it's only natural" in an attempt to hopefully lure the girl into his plan of selfish desire. The man however is aware that he shouldn't be doing what he's doing as the voice that we hear throughout the song tells him to "wait" and "wait until tomorrow" this could be be a representation of his conscience telling him that this is a bad thing but also plays on the meaning of the song saying "we're only human" so he knows it"s wrong because he isn"t made of stone and knows that his may not be the best things at this time.
