Hello Moderator, my name is Samuel Musgrave and this is my blog, it contains all of the work undertaken as part of the G324 A2 Coursework Advanced Portfolio Unit within Media Studies.
I chose to work as part of a group with one other person, Adam Day, to produce a Music Video, Digipak and Advert for the band, The Kooks, for the song titled 'She Moves In Her Own Way'. The genre of my chosen artist is Indie rock/alternative rock.
During this project I enjoyed researching existing real media texts and expanding on my knowledge of conventions of particular genres. My blog is best viewed using Google Chrome. The completed project took approximately 6 months to construct and perfect.

Detailed Video Analysis - Paolo Nutini
This song has a rather obvious meaning it is trying to imply that although he 'wakes up feeling cold on Tuesday' and woke up 'late on thursday' (lyrics) it can all be changed with a new pair of shoes. maybe he is implying to relationships or any aspect of life. It is a rather cheerful song trying to be positive about sad times of death or relationship break-ups.
'Hello new shoes, bye bye them blues' he is obviously saying that whenever there is a downside in life it always get better. Saying whenever new shoes are involve (new girlfriend perhaps) those blues from before (previous relationship) disappear. His new shoes are reflecting his new personality as a single man or just a general life change. The whole song is one big metaphor about life changes.
His old shoes represent his old bad attitude towards life maybe, however his new shoes are making him enjoy the little things in life and be more of an optimist and not a pessimist and look towards the good things in life and be positive towards the future.
